Stephen has over 30 years of wide-ranging international business experience specialising in corporate finance. During his career Stephen spent over 14 years as a member of a small executive team at Graeme Hart’s Rank Group. In this period, Stephen played a key role in the creation and implementation of Rank’s growth strategy which saw the value of the company rise from less than $10 million to well in excess of $2 billion. This was largely created through the acquisition, improvement and sale of many businesses, both in New Zealand and overseas, operating in a wide variety of disciplines including manufacturing, wholesaling, distribution and retail. Acting as a director in many of these businesses gave Stephen a valuable insight into the inner workings and critical success factors of multiple types of businesses around the world. Stephen has also spent time in the oil and gas industry (in London, Jakarta and Tokyo) and in investment banking.
In 2005, Stephen took the plunge into business ownership with the purchase of a farming business in the Waikato which he recently sold. He has also undertaken directorship roles with Triathlon New Zealand and Riding for the Disabled.
Stephen has a B.Sc (Econ) from the London School of Economics and is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors.
